DVD Mini Interview with Nancy Allen

DVD mini interview released in the DVD Robobox Edition, in 2003

Loyal Partner:

Nancy Allen was the daughter of a sergeant of Yonkers, New York, so she had the necessary experience to perform Anne Lewis, a tough crime fighter and RoboCop’s partner

“My father definitively had a dark side”, she says, “He didn’t trust most people, he was cynical and skeptical, he was always pointing out how dangerous the outside world was”.

But Allen, who performed Lewis in the 3 RoboCop movies, didn’t grow up in a tough environment.  Known for her roles as sexy feminine women, Allen had to work very hard to become a hard policewoman.  “I went to the Police Academy to learn Martial Arts, to shoot and learn the arrest procedures as they truly are” she explains “After, I realized I had to change my way of walking, less furtively and more from the stomach rather than from the hips” she adds. “I had also to lower my voice so I wouldn’t sound like the sweet girl I really am!”

No matter how many challenges she had to face to perfect her role as Anne Lewis, she appreciated the opportunity to play “a woman under the same terms of the masculine world”.  Maybe a little upset for the inconclusive romance her character has with the man lost inside the machine, Allen moans: “and so…what can you do with a cyborg? Men are so complicated anyway!”
